Guadalupe County VOAD

How To Help

VOAD

If any type of disaster or emergency occurs within our community, we need to be prepared and local organizations need to work together. Each has their own unique assets. The Guadalupe County Office of Emergency Management and Guadalupe County Texas VOAD, a 501 (c) 3, provides a means of communication, coordination and advance planning for disaster relief that is provided by the members in the form of food, shelter, clothing and medical service to those in need through cooperation and communication of resources. It is important to communicate prior to any disaster. By joining the VOAD, your organization unites with others by listing resources you have to assist our citizens in a time of need. The membership form can be accessed: VOAD Membership

STRATEGIC NATIONAL STOCKPILE VOLUNTEERS

If there is a large-scale disease outbreak in our community or even a terrorist attack, your help is greatly needed! Guadalupe County has the responsibility of dispensing potential life-saving medications to its entire population within 24 to 48 hours depending on the nature of the outbreak. The dispensing will occur in a POD (Point of Dispensing) site and a large number of volunteers will be needed to perform these important tasks. The primary purpose of a POD is to decrease the number of individuals from within our community who may become ill and to save lives. Guadalupe County if in the process of identifying PODS and volunteers. There is very little time commitment and if you are called into help, you and your family will receive the medication before it is dispensed to the general public. If you are interested in volunteering and need additional information, please contact megan.mainz@co.guadalupe.tx.us, (830)303-8856.

The volunteer form can be accessed at www.co.guadalupe.tx.us/em/pdfs/volunteer.pdf
