Mission Statement

The mission of the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office is to provide professional law enforcement services to the citizens and visitors of Guadalupe County, to protect life and property, and to provide a safe, secure, and humane incarceration of inmates.

The Sheriff and his Deputies recognize that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without supportive input from the citizens it serves. This Office actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce criminal activity and within legal limits, to assist in bringing to justice those that prey on the person and property of others.

message from the Sheriff

When you elected me as your Sheriff, I promised a new philosophy for the office and changes that would enhance county law enforcement services to you. Thus, enforcing the law in a fair and impartial manner to prevent and deter crime, and ensuring that the employees of the Sheriff's Office would receive the best training available in order to provide the best service to the citizens of Guadalupe County.

Since taking office in 2001 and with the help of Guadalupe County citizens, we have worked hard to reduce major crime in Guadalupe County. Your Sheriff's Office has the only full-time Narcotics Unit in the county to attack local drug issues along with establishing a four unit K-9 Division to assist in the deterrence of crime. We have more marked units on county roads and highways and initiated the first SWAT/Negotiations Unit for Guadalupe County. We have upgraded the Boat Patrol Division affording the public added water safety. We established the much needed Guadalupe County Animal Control Department, and six months into office we brought on the new 600-bed adult detention facility and have contracted out bed space to outside agencies bringing in revenues to offset the costs of operations to the taxpayers.

I have worked hard to keep Guadalupe County safe, by making public safety my number one priority to earn your trust and confidence in the Sheriff's Office. I am dedicated to keeping the citizens of Guadalupe County safe and secure during tough economic times. I continue to work closely with the Commissioner's Court in maintaining budgets that ensure every dollar spent by the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office is necessary and will yield results to enhance the safety and security of the taxpayers.

It is my hope that this website will better your understanding of my responsibilities to this community and to the success of a system which affects all of our lives. I encourage you to learn more about the duties and functions of your Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office.

Come by and visit me sometime. My office number is (830)379-1224.

Sincerely,
Arnold S. Zwicke, Sheriff
